In the detail
On the days when the storm comes and it begins to pour and I freeze where I am. Although I'm shaking to the bone, I cannot move. Because maybe the pouring rain will make me feel something.
On the days when it seems like I can get nothing wrong. When it's one thing after the other.
On all the days when everything is falling apart. Those are the days when I focus on the little things ..
It's always the little things. The details. Focusing on the details is a good way to change focus.
Laughing so hard with someone until your sides hurt, long conversations in the car that can be about absolutely nothing or literally everything. The days when you drive just to drive, or drive to get away.
There's days when your aloud to be alone to focus on you, time for you to do you. Sometimes we need time to do what we love most, time to listen to the silence to listen to ourselves think without the commotion of others.
But there will be days when it's hard when you want to be alone, but that's not what you need. Sometimes you need to be around peopls even if you don't. You have to let others be there for you even when you feel that's not what you want. Sometimes sitting in silence with the love of others surround you is the best thing you can do for yourself.
Learn to appreciate the small things. The times when you can find joy in a good cup of tea. The times when a stranger smiles and it makes your whole day. Or the times when a random person compliments your outfit and it turns your whole day around.
When you pay attention to the detail you appreciate the world around you more, and you learn to appreciate the characteristics of other people. Loving others includes listening to what someone has to say, and quieting yourself once in awhile to hear someone else's stories.
There's is importance in the detail and the intricacy. Learning to pay attention to the little things allows you to learn the story of others, to write your own story, and to learn more about the environment around you. So live your life in a way that is different. Pay attention to the detail around you, contemplate the little things and you'll notice some change.
Both photography & poetry has taught me the importance of looking closer at things, paying attention to the intricacy of life. Taking the time to form words into beauty, taking time to capture images that allow the viewer to look at something differently, giving someone a different perspective.
