Still

Still

Inspired by: Still I Rise by Maya Angelou

You may conceive me how you want me, assume my total meaning of existence from one look at me. With your perception you will think what you want of me. You may trip on the very ground of untruth that you walk on, but still, I will keep on.

Does my knowledge make you angry? What are you troubled from my strengths, do they make you see your own weakness? Are you overwhelmed by an all consuming sadness because of my swiftness. I have a meaning in my step. I work upon this earth with a destination, one I do not yet know. Still I travel on.

Like the flowers and the trees I continue to grow upward unfailing to stay in place. Like the constant of the burning stars above and the relentless waves below, I remain wild. Just like the changing seasons I will keep my souls colors ever changing, I will transform still. Do you want to see me shattered as glass? Did you come to see me alone with my soul shaking. Shaking with my own self thought.

Does my thoughfulness harm you? Do you cringe at my continuing growth? Trying to dim my light. You may cut me with your opinion, carving into my soul with your lies. You may make my heart beat louder with your constant doubt. You can quickly make my thoughts shake with your shrewdness. Still I keep on loving.

Out of my past I grow, away from the painful mask I step and continue to grow. Away from you, I grow up through your expectations. Through your doubts and lies about my soul, I counting to grow on. I am the crashing waves strong and unable to be be controlled.

Into my ever growing soul I push on. Into the mysterious world I beautifully continue on. I am everything you said I wasn't. I am unexpected, so the next time, when you voice your thoughts about me, be careful, I might just grow.
